The Røros World Heritage website, uses Klapp Media’s publication solution, eX.
The information is stored in a XML-structure and the presentation logics are done in XSL through the framework of Cocoon from Apache Foundation. XML is an open standard for the exchange of information, and allows the same content in to be used in different contexts in an easy manner. One of the concepts of the project is to present the material in different ways, the same article can, for example be viewed by following a logical progression, or by showing a time line.
The method of presentation also supports pictorial and film material of high quality. The film sequences are laid out in a video quality of 2mbit/s, a fact that means the picture quality will be excellent for full screen showing. The film sequences are stored on a high-resolution database and are automatically scaled down by the system of publication when shown in the web pages, this is in order to speed up down loading of the pages. The majority of illustrations can be clicked to allow the viewer to examine the pictures in full resolution.
